Peter,

We had a similar need at my prior employer, and we got a program written by Pete Olshavsky at Guide Technologies to build us the cross reference file (we were at R6). This was EXTREMELY useful for us, and I ended up recreating the file every night, and "Browserized" the file for use by the material planners and engineers. I know Pete uses this thread (he was active on some stuff yesterday) - you could contact him to see what's involved in getting a copy of the program.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Component Where Used (INPUT: FileA, OUTPUT: FileB)

Greetings!

We have programs that can do a full blown indented BOM explosion and write
that in a file. This time, I have a spreadsheet with a list of
components and (with a custom program) I want to read the whole file, do a
full blown component-where-used explosion and save the results in another
file. The purpose is that, based on the spreadsheet data, I want to
determine which finished goods are using them. We also have EPDM so we
will also need to make sure that we are analyzing data that is current or
"effective". After that, we want to be able to access the data for
analysis, via SQL, MS Access, etc. (if it does not fit in MS Excel 2003,
if greater than 65565 rows...). The spreadsheet is not an issue, just the
technique (program) of building my component-where-used file.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
