If I understand your requirements, you are trying to track machine time, and
prevent most of the off and on transactions at end of shifts.
In order to do this you need to ensure that std. machine time is defined in
the operation. Then assign the employees to a crew clock (CC) number.
This will allow for machine time to be tracked, at no labor cost; and it
will minimize the clocking activity done only to track machine time.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Dummy Employees
Has anyone successfully set up fake employees to capture run time with no
costs associated. Many times our product can run unattended and at the end
of 1st shift we don't want to have one 2nd shift guy clock on to 20 or so
jobs.
We want to be able to capture the time for the next time we run the job (or
similar jobs) when it may not be able to guaranty the availiblity of the 2nd
shift.
Back in June 2002 on the list there was some talk about a employee type M
for machine, but I couldn't find anything in the manuals or E:Info about it.
Any suggestions of what people have done would be helpful. Thanks.
