The ISL module in MAPICS would enable this scenario by allowing you to
create "transfer orders" between your supermarket warehouse and your
production warehouse. X-orders can be released (from MRP) against
demand in the supermarket warehouse that would, in turn, create demand
in the production warehouse. ISL then facilitates the transfer of
inventory from the production warehouse back to the supermarket
warehouse.

Without ISL, it is quite difficult and/or labor intensive to keep the
supermarket warehouse demand separate from the production warehouse
demand. The supermarket warehouse has one goal (stocking level) versus
the goal of the production warehouse (low inventory).

We've done this in "spare parts warehouse" and "supermarket warehouse"
situations.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] MRP question

Good Morning - we currently have two planning warehouses in place, one
production warehouse that is uncontrolled and one 'supermarket'
warehouse
that is controlled. We would like to do interwarehouse transfers from
production to the supermarket and drive auto PO's created from the
supermarket warehouse based on safety stock levels only and ignore all
other demand on the production warehouse side (replenishing supermarket
locations with PO receipts until safety stock levels fall again due to
the
warehouse transfers). We are still getting auto PO's generated from the

production warehouse and the PO's from the supermarket were only created

once, then stopped.

Any hints on how items need to be coded to make this happen - we only
want
to do this for certain parts, for the time being.

Much thanks,
