I've been following this dialog and have a couple suggestions as well.
When I worked for Kress, I added functionality around the MRP
Recommendation business object in Power link. I believe this was Release 7
(but if MRP Recommendations is available in Release 6, it would work here
as well or could be built presumably).

Anyway, we added some "value added" fields to the list view. One of them
was a "components available". We ran a quick post MRP job that populated
this extension file. With this, our users could then subset/release "in
mass" Mfg. Orders with availability. We also added other fields for
sorting. For example top-level "source of demand". In our case (we built
coal trucks) we could subset groups of orders that went just into that
specific "job" or truck, and were able to filter/release based on this
value as well. (we also layed out in a linear fashion if a job had
multiple "sources". For example, one mfg. order to make a fabricated part
going into 2 or more truck. We could see where requirements were being
combined easier). I absolutely love the way you can Review/Release
recommendation in Power link.

Many of these functions were extremely easy to add (using Integrator and
Power Link).

E-mail me if you want more information on how I designed this.

I also designed the MO Generator program that was posted. In this case we
wrote to the ORDATA batch files (but a better tool could be built now with
system link doing a data push directly if you have OBPM). In this case you
(end user) fed in a top level item, it "flattened" the Bill, and from this
list view in Power link, could release groups or single orders with
availability. We used color scheme's to highlight (green if all components
available, yellow if waiting on purchased items, etc..)

E-mail me directly and I can give more information on how I did
this. Again, Integrator (Enterprise preferably if on R7) is required on
these solutions.

Some ideas anyway. Some slick stuff you can do with Integrator.

Dave,

We have Integrator at R6... Could you email me some details on that?

We are an Infor Channel Partner (TriMin systems) and have created a MO
generator program that is pretty slick that sounds like it would do what
you
are looking for. Do you have the Integrator module?
