System Reply list entry for CPA4072 -- MAPICS-L

I have a system reply list entry for CPA4072 (reached maximum records for a
spooled file) with the reply set to *nomax, but it didn't take effect when an
item balance report went over 999999 records. 999999 is what the printer
override in MAPICS is set to.
I would think that the system reply list would take precedence and not the
MAPICS printer override. What am I missing?
