That sounds like a lot of work, for not much gained unless there is a really specific reason why you need to keep the same environment designation... Why not just migrate over to the test R7 environment which then becomes the production instead of renaming it? This is what I did so then users had months to get there views/subsets/sorts/etc setup, since unfortunately we do not have integrator. -Jimmy -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mapics-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Pete Olshavsky Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2007 3:50 AM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] Browser Views - moving from a test to aliveenvironment Morning, Is there something on E:info that explains this in detail? In a few weeks I will be going live from R6 to R7. I have several user in the R7 test env that have been making views and subsets etc in PowerLink.. We have no integrator changes at this time. Do I need to do an export for each user? Do I sign on as the user or can I do each one as Security officer? Our Current test env for R7 is "XX". Once we are live I will be renaming my "MM" which is R6 to "R6" and my R7 "XX" will become "MM" I will be using the rename tool for this. Anyone have any experience with this tool (SH12135) Once my new R7 env is renamed and I rebuild PowerLink and Link Manager for the "MM". I would then import my changes. Trying to make sure I got this. Doing the final migration on a Sunday... Is it possible to simply export particular objects? The exported file is not reasonable to edit. I'm really curious now, because of SOX we will have to do all our objects in the test env then rollout to production when approved. This is really going to be a challenge when we upgrade to Essentials and add aps. We are R6, perhaps it's avail in R7+++? or was it already covered at Inforum 2006? Thanks. On the file menu there should be an export option.
