Greg

As I understand it, The field is 32 position long and the number is displayed
as a single decimal with an indicator to the right to show how many position to
move the decimal to the left or right.

Field Desc
 Len Dec
ITQTY Transaction Qty 16 15

The display of the field in a query is below
1.100000000000000E+003

The +3 indicates to move the decimal 3 positions to the right.

So this value would be 1100

TIA

Mike

Mike,

Perhaps I don't understand what you mean by floating point decimal.
If you mean it has many decimal places and you want to display or print
a value with only 2 decimal places then do:

Use Specify Report Column Formatting and change the decimal digits.

Or

Use Define Result Field and define a new field with 2 decimal digits and
display or print the new field.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] AS400 Query and floating point decimal field

I am writing an AS400 query. One of the fields is a floating point
decimal. How would I convert this floating point field to a regular
decimal (7.2. numeric)? The report writing tool is AS400 query.

TIA
