Pete,
Are you stating that all the programs have been used in the last 2 years or so. Check the last Used dates and counts to make sure. I have started at many of my customer locations to create an "obsolete" library and am moving all the objects and source members to this library that have not been used within a certain time frame. I then reset the "days used" count and add the library to the MMLIST of libraries (below the newly cleaned "active objects" library).

Then, on a weekly or monthly basis, determine if the "obsolete" objects have been used based on the count or date of the reset and move them back if necessary.

Eric

And it only some. I probably have about 50 pgms. that are kind of RPGLE... They have F specs with rec length and I specs with from and to postitions. The files are my biggest hangup. Because they have multiple record types within each file. So I could convert to seperate files or records formats... Then change pgms to access the new file or format.... Neither option is easy and it will take time and $$$$$$$$.... Which will add to the price of going to R7...

Ah so it's only your custom stuff that is using 36? Your MAPICS R4
environment is running on the 400 side?

I don't think I have a problem there.. Right now the files which are all
custom user files and they are in a library QS36F on the 400... I am
thinking all I need to do is create like a QS36F7 library, and copy
those files into that library. I just need to make sure when I am
testing the R7 that I access QS36R7... And not interfer with the live R4
env....

Hmmm... The question is how do you run the migration tool to get your
data from a 36 environment to the 400 side.

Howdy Group,
What I am wanting to do is this:
I have a customer that is on R4 of Mapics.
We have probably over 100 pgms that still run in a system 36
environment on our 400. We are at V5R3M0.
They are looking to go to R7 of mapics.
One of the options I am investigating is to just bring all their
existing code over in the new R7 env as is... Which means I would need
to have 2 sys/36 env. The one that is currently being used for normal
daily processing.
Another to allow testing in the new R7 env.

Is this possible? And if so, can you forward me any information about
setting this up and save me the trouble of trying to figure out what
needs to be done.

 As always Thanks in advance..
