Marc... I have been using a BUI package for over 3 1/2 years now and I can't imagine running an IT shop without it. We use Vanguard Solutions BUI products (now owned by Exact Software) and it has eliminated our needs of running 100's of queries for upper management. I have eliminated the requests to the IT department for special reports because the cubes that they create are so easy to use and customize via the end user. This product has kept me from hiring more IT employees as our business has grown. Vanguard has standard XA views (which they have upgraded with the latest version of 4.5) and offer a E-Deployment module for email automation. If you have special requirements or business object extensions that are not part of the standard BUI view, no problem... a product called Extension Builder allows you the ability to add the missing fields to the views. They have an excellent staff in regards to training and technical support and their sales people don't just sell you the product and move on. They keep in contact with the customer and they follow up months and years later to see how you are doing with their product. I highly recommend them and I believe there are others on this board that would agree with me. If you want to call and discuss, please email me. Fortunately, we quit using MUI sometime ago.... Browser helped a lot with that!!! And from what I've seen, that's the only issue. Anyone else have others? F1, F4 (Help, Lookup) do not consistently work on Dumb Terminals (issue currently being worked on) 4. User created extended Help (F1-F2) does not show up (issue currently being worked on) 5. F1/F4 is not working on PCs (issue currently being worked on) From "E:Info" - e:mail August 26, 2003 MAPICS will be withdrawing MAPICS User Interface (MUI) defect support effective March 1, 2004 MAPICS will continue to provide telephone support on MUI function. Defect support will be withdrawn due to the low number of reported defects and stability of the offering. If it is something that can simply be corrected, we may pursue this avenue. We are currently working with the developer to track and see what the issues are with F1/F4 and for possible solutions. Again, we are not guaranteeing that this will be corrected. -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mapics-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joe Perrault Sent: Friday, November 10, 2006 8:54 AM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] Priority ID and OS V5R4 upgrade Speaking of V5R4, does anyone know whether Infor has addressed some of the MUI issues (F1/F4 not working, etc) occurring with this upgrade? I've heard that (or Oracle, or JDE, or whatever) WAAAY too often! And it makes absolutely no financial sense to me. It's gotta cost a TON more to change than to upgrade (unless you are tier-based). I've been stalled at R6 for a way too long to suit me, and initially it was because we might have to go to JDE/Peoplesoft/Oracle/whatever-they-are-this-week. At least that's over now - we have been declared "out of scope" to their conversion. We're on MAPICS/Infor for the foreseeable future. I'm going to upgrade to V5R4 first, then a new i5 box, THEN to R7. I'm hoping we will be further down our "reimplementation" of ERPII by then so I can put more time into it. (We go through a reimplementation every several years as people "forget" how things are supposed to work.) Since we already owned the SQL server the only cost is for the client so it is very cost effective for us. It also allow us to tie together similar date from multiple data sources (like JDE, SAP, Manage 2000, etc.) We primarily using BI for sales and spend data today but are considering an extension into other process areas.
