I have implemented number of Maincor (now Maintenance & Calibration Management) installations, both stand alone and integrated to MAPICS. I'd be glad to talk to you about my experiences. My experience on the acceptance by maintenance depends a great deal on how it is positioned, presented, and implemented. We've used MP2 by Datastream for as long as I can remember. We tried Maincor but found it cumbersome, we were attracted to it's XA interface, but it had a separate ALF's, 1 for Maincor, 1 for the purchasing interface. We never interfaced MP2 or Maincor to XA. It seems that maintenance software has so many features that the target audience is often overwhelmed. Not a dig at the guys in maintenance - just most of them don't want to spend more time data entering than it took to perform the maintenance. It's also my experience that the idea of distributing the data entry workload to the guys doing the work is almost foreign, especially when the term 'web based' is used. I'm really surprised the open source community has not addressed this market.
