In the past I have lost access to tape hardware an acquisition and used a tape duplication service that can change the format. I don't recall exact cost or who I used but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000/tape media included to duplicate to the new media format. If there are only a couple tapes this may be cost effective. We didn't duplicate every tape, just the critical few since the data was archived. If we need it in the future we will go back to Google to and follow the same process. This command copies from one tape to another. IWilson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote:
Hi All Excuse my ignorance here but I beg your indulgence. I have a number of MODATA and IMHIST archives stored on tapes (1.2 and
2.5
GB data cartridges). We are purchasing a new i-series and will no longer have access to this format of tape ( we will only have an Ultrium). I therefore need to copy the data from one tape to format to another. Do I have to restore this data to Mapics then rearchive it to the Ultrium
tapes or is there a way I can copy from one tape to another ?
