William, No one else has jumped in so here is some info from 5 years ago. We used Electronic Deposit for about 4-5 years then switched to outsourcing our payroll so we don't do ED in house anymore. As I recall we had to update (debug) the MAPICS program that created the NACHA records because it did not add the check sums properly. Also our Bank was very specific as to the format of the NACHA records and the MAPICS program was slightly out of spec. Maybe all that has been fixed. We just used a simple unsecured dial up PC asynch modem to dial into the bank and drop the file off. I'm sure today that would be unacceptable so ask your bank for their procedures. We had to build our own history file for the NACHA records. MAPICS did not have that 5 years ago. You'll definitely need to keep them. That's about all I remember. I don't think you could implement ED without help from a programmer/consultant who was fairly good with this type of work. I have looked over the Mapics chapter on electronic deposit. I would like to hear from other user how they accomplished this and how they set up and transmit EDI data.
