Doug,

Without choosing between the schools of thought about the wisdom of
running MRP more than once a day (or during the day), I'll tell you that
you MIGHT be able to remove the conflict records from the CNFLCT file (I
think that's the right name). There is an e-info entry that describes
which conflicts to remove. This action would permit you to run MRP while
other functions are running. Examples that make sense are: I want to run
MRP in warehouse 2, but Item Balance maintenance in Warehouse 1 would keep
me from being able to do that. Silly restriction in that situation, but
obviously business specific. The risk you are running is that order entry
could be happening in the warehouse that MRP is running for - which could
give you inconsistent results from the calculations. However, I have used
this solution often and it works well for me with no impact --- but I have
to say that would depend on your specifics. Others may chastise me for
offering this idea - MAPICS will denounce the whole idea. But anyway,
this one has worked for me.
