Eric,

I'm right in line with your thoughts. I had tried to change the flags in
MBCJCPP using DFU. It does not appear to affect the pick/pack/ship process.
I have some more testing to do and may find the "trick" to get it done.

I've also found a PTF SH60582 that states that it will allow the Error
message to be changed to a warning message that can be overridden. We may
resort to it.

The only problem is that we are using barcode equipment and offline shipping
to get things done now.

Oh well, just more work.

Thanks. I'll keep you updated via the forum.

Subject: RE: [MAPICS-L] COM Backorder Override

Kevin,
It looks like (but you may want to test this) that the Backorders and
Partial Ship flags are copied into the MBCJCPP (Order extension) file from
the MBBFREP fields during Order Entry but are not maintainable. What I
might do in your situation was to (maybe) use the Priority field on Panel
030 (Shipment & Terms) with a special code to let the order know that this
order should not allow backorders or partials.

Then, using the End of Order user exit, change the backorder & partial flags
to a zero.

The real part to test will be the shipment processing portion to see if it
checks the Order Extension flags or the Customer Master flags to determine
if Backorders are allowed. I know that one of my customers has the occasion
to do just the opposite of yours - normally they do not accept backorders,
but on this one order they do. To get this order to ship, they change the
customer master to allow it, process the shipment, then change the customer
master back.

We have never tested what I proposed above, so I do not know if the "check"
occurs at the Order level. I definitely know that it does perform the
"check" at the customer level.

BTW, I would be interested in what you find out from your testing...

Thanks...
Eric

We have a unique requirement. We want to allow all customers / orders to
allow for partial shipments and backorders. On occasion, we need to
override this by order to ensure that there are no backorders and no
partials.

Any thoughts, ideas etc.?
