I have been through an R6 upgrade and a great deal of ground work at the 
operational level is need not to interrupt daily operations Pur, IM, PC&C, PDM, 
MRP,
COM, etc.

I have always favored, even with R6, separate environments for each financial 
entity or profit center. Then write programs to bring all the data together, 
by the minute, hour, day, week, month, quarter, whatever into the corporate 
financials.
