Go to IBM's iSeries Online Library (called Info Center now) and look for an
ILE programming guide.  I believe that there is one that shows you how to
call programs in different languages and get the parameter passing correct.
Note that you must use ILE RPG and not the older RPG/400.

Ron and Greg,

Thank you for your help.  I am trying to call a java program from within my
own RPG which is defined as the program responsible for user defined
transactions in PM&C.  I just need the RPG program to be capable of
recieving the correct parameter, pass it to java, and return it back to the
calling Mapics program.

We currently have programs that use the RPG->CL->Java approach, but I
thought it might be cleaner if I could figure out some of this jni stuff.
