Jim, We have a fairly extensive sales/marketing application that is driven from MAPICS sales orders, and we have to use comments to feed the system, since MAPICS doesn't understand things like model year, variable discount rates based on volume, spiffs, and so on. The only way we could get it to work right (and it works really well) was to use pre-defined comments that are auto-loaded from fields entered in a pop-up screen. With computer-generated comments added, we can count on the data always being in the same format. Setting it up initially was pretty well a pain, but once it's in, it works well. Sounds like you have a similar need. Currently we use the order comments field, but since they are free form text and with the ability for an order to have multiple comment lines it makes it difficult to accurately parse these fields for reporting/calculation. -Jimmy _______________________________________________ This is the MAPICS ERP System Discussion (MAPICS-L) mailing list To post a message email: MAPICS-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/mapics-l or email: MAPICS-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/mapics-l.
