Mr. Russell:

I don't have the exact tasks at hand but I can tell you we have locked
every task so the issue would be authorizing to tasks. Also, over the
course of three days they would have logged off multiple times. Since we
are short of licenses we clear them each night.

Thanks,

Subject: RE: Browser security delay

Some security checks are cached to reduce the number of calls occurring
between the client and the server. If a task returns a positive
response (user is authorized) it is cached. If a task returns a
negative response it is not cached. Due to the number of times they
could be checked, all Field level security checks are cached. I am not
sure when we cache user definition (views, cards) security calls. I
pretty sure the cache should be cleared when the user signs off. There
may also be a performance setting that allows you to specify how long
the value is cached. I will look into this some more in the morning.
If you have more specific information about the task, sub-task and
whether you were authorize or revoking authority. Also, remember if the
task was unlocked it is treated as authorized.

The reason for not caching the negative responses was to allow someone
to contact the security administrator and get authority without have to
log off.

Subject: Browser security delay

        Hello everyone:

We sometimes experience a delay of two to three days after we
authorize
someone to a task before it actually works in browser. The first
time it
happened we called it in to MAPICS Support and they noticed that
there
is no delay in green screen but didn't discover anything else
before it
finally started working. Since then it has happened a handful of
other
times that I know of and I didn't bother to call it in again.

Any ideas about what is happening?

        Thank you,
