The issue we had with offline (and I didn't research this very much) is it appeared that we would have to change how we did our shipping procedures. With the custom approach, we pulled in address info and pushed back tracking and shipping charges and put in a sweeper program to add the special charge records. We also had a code in the order (special charge record) that made the order ignore charges when warranted. It is possible that I was being lazy and unnecessarily cautious as I was told that they did not want to change anything in how they operated in shipping. I would look at the offline offering if I had to do it again for the reason Penny states below - I am not a real fan of custom programs that make me have to watch PTF's. ----- Original Message ----- From: <pennylancor@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: "MAPICS ERP System Discussion" <mapics-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 30, 2004 8:48 AM Subject: RE: Integrating FedEX into Mapics > The MAPICS Offline Shipping function can be used for the sole purpose of adding special charges to a shipment. I have used this technique to add UPS charges to shipments. This way, a custom program isn't responsible for writing MAPICS records. > > -- > Regards, > Penny Lancor > Technical Services > TechKnowledge Partners, LLC > 224.715.3967 > > -------------- Original message -------------- > > > Ted, > > Thanks so much for the reply.
