PRESENCE is tool that is application-neutral, and can connect to any data source that supports ODBC or JDBC drivers, whether that be MAPICS on the AS/400, or Oracle on a Unix platform, or SQL Server, etc..
PRESENCE monitors at the field level of the database for either changed, unchanged, deleted, or new data. Based on a preconditioned comparison, PRESENCE will automatically take action (ie, go off and do another tasks, update an applicaiton/database, send automated notifications, build reports, scorecards, etc.). Tasks can be scheduled or on-demand.
PRESENCE can interface with each of the MAPICS modules by digging down to the field level. By using ODBC or JDBC drivers, PRESENCE doesn't need to use the GL interfaces.
In Ron's case, PRESENCE could be scheduled once a day to look for new or changed quotes in the Windows appliation, compare the items to their actual costs in MAPICS and present a report and package it in an email to be distributed to the appropriate person(s), say by email. PRESENCE could also update any other applications based on these results.
I would be happy to show you a WebEx demo to show you more, if interested.
Again, you can contact me offline to discuss.
Thank you,
Rusty Stuart American Presence, Inc.
