We, Pemstar Asia Business center need all our sites in Asia namely 
Singapore, Thailand, and China to use a single environment. We are in the 
initial stage of this project. We  do not need to run in a multi-language, 
but need in a single environment. As you know that MAPICS do not support 
multi currency across the environment, we have decided to have only one 
functional currency (local currency) for all these countries. So, our 
first phase of this project was to convert the existing local currency 
from Singapore $ to US $, Thai Bhat to US$, and RMB to US$. Once this is 
done, we have the flexibility that the standard MAPICS can support single 
environment globally. So, we will be consolidating all the environments 
into a single environment. There may be some problem arising due to MO and 
PO serial numbers, but we may be allocating a range of numbers with unique 
prefix for each country. We will have different companies (Financial 
Division) created in IFM as well as COM, and based on unique warehouse 
code for each country we can able to interface with IFM and COM. We are 
not sure exactly the other impacts to this concepts, but we are sure that 
technically it is possible to have Single environments globally if the 
functional currency is same.

Running MAPICS in a Single Environment Globally






Has any one encountered the need to run MAPICS on a single AS/400, in a 
single environment, in multiple languages and using the PTF SH14389 
(ability to run multi-language in a single environment)?  I am trying to 
understand how our customers run globally using MAPICS in a single 
environment.  The 3 countries that would be using the system is France, 
Germany, and the US.  Any implementation suggestions or comments would be 
most helpful.
