We also use SPLTOOL which we purchased years ago at:

and recently purchased Esend because of the additional capabilities we 
needed: http://www.asc-iseries.com/opcenter/esend.htm 

Another great tool that happens to be free is a command called SQLTOXLS 
which we use to create and Excel spreadsheet and then email that to the 
user. With the SQLTOXLS command you can often skip Query/400 and get the 
results directly into Excel. Most of our users prefer getting a 
spreadsheet to a TXT or PDF file.
