we are using 3 commands that we got out of various AS/400 magazine articles
so long ago I don't remember exactly where. But they are FREE, FREE, FREE.
It should only take a little research to turn these up.

the names of the commands are . . . . .

SNDM - "Send Message". It gives you the ability to send a
generic EMail message from an AS/400 program.

CRTCVSF - "Create CSV File". It gives you the ability to convert an AS/400
file to a CSV file and send it off in an EMail as an attachment. You can
find this one all over the web.

CVTSPLSTMF - "Convert Spool To Stream File". It gives you the ability
to convert an AS/400 Spool file to a PDF and send it off in an EMail as an
attachment. This one downloads from www.pickett.com.au (which also has
non-free versions that do more IPDS kinds of things)
We use these commands every day (especially month-end) without a problem.

In addition, we have a MAPICS Consultant here who created a neat interface
to allow us to have unlimited Email, Fax, Cellular and PDA electronic
addresses for all of our MAPICS Customers, Shipto's, Vendors, Buyers,
Planners, Salesreps and Users. This enhancement also gives us the ability
to link which report or "Alert" we would want that user to receive. We are
able to send the reports directly from the 400 without having to hard code
any email addresses, as well as, have a robust Contact Database from within
the MAPICS maintenenace and inquiry functions. Of course, this would cost
you guys money because it does so much more.

SPLTOOL. It is by far the best $230 we ever spent. We use it for both
month-end and nightly reports and queries. It is easily incorporated into
CL's.

Subject: Sending MAPICS reports via email

We generate a collection of MAPICS and Query reports during out
month-end reporting process that we need to be able to easily "send" via
email.

What is the best and/or easiest way to accomplish this? We're running
XA 5.5. We're running Exchange 2000. We have a dedicated Internet
link.

Looking for solutions... Currently we're pulling data into Excel
spreadsheets and sending those. We'd like to stop doing that, avoid the
extra work, and just send the MAPICS reports and query results.

Thanks!
