In order to capture changes being made on customer master file without using journaling following are other methods a) Using MAPICS user exit b) Use AS400 file trigger a) User exits are the programs given by mapics to custamize the application as per local requirements. The user exit program UMVCUM1R is called after any changes, add and delete operation on customer master file. A separate program can be written to trap all the changes and compare each time with the latest data available in customer master file. This program can be invoked from user exit program UMVCUM1R to serve the purpose.. b) A trigger can be written to trap all the changes. It may lead to slow response time but not significantly. In other words it would be faster than journaling. With the changes we have to capture the before and after of the fields that were changed. Has anyone done this without journaling turned on?
