Are you using the MAPICS Client? If you are, have you been able to get R7 working with it? -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Shawn Thobe Sent: Tue 6/1/2004 2:24 PM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Cc: Subject: RE: Rel.7 Upgrade We use Citrix in house, which I love, and run our Client access through it. Works great. We have mixture of PCs, some as low as P75s, and some thin-clients. The nice thing is that we have given select users remote access which allow them to access MAPICS while out of the office. Easy to do with Citrix. Instead of a "fat client" (running Smalltalk and Client Access and whatever) with a bunch of memory and a considerable processor being required to use MAPICS Browser, you can access MAPICS Browser with a thin client terminal (or low end PC) running Internet Explorer with Java capabilities. This should significantly reduce hardware requirements (and extend hardware life) in my manufacturing environment. And, if I choose to in the future, extend specific applications to the Internet for Supply Chain Management (although there are some other MAPICS products that I will look at when that comes up on my never-ending project list). I'm certain there will be a LOT of information on this at the MUC, if you attend...... Just sign up for any of Phil Joseph's presentations and hang on to your seat. What is Netlink? We are also in the process of upgrading - just beginning the testing phase. I know what my payback will be (largely the thin client model advantages of NetLink), assuming everything works as it should, but I'd like to hear any war stories.
