We run the following program from MAPICS that cleans up the abend records
and releases MAPICS license that are not being used
that were left hanging. We have this in our job scheduler and run it every
hour. CALL PGM(AMZCPU6R).

Pete,
You're right about the abends.
We need to clean them up manually.
What important is that is doesn't interfere with the backup process.
Users are trained and are responsible that they end Mapics correctly at the
end of the day.
We can't check during the unatend backup if there is an open Mapics
session,
file maintenance or whatever.
We simply kill that user session.
IT is not responsible for lost of data if users leave there sessions open.
Luckily until now we never had problems with that.
