The EAX product is very cool, they setup a custom demo for us, very nice.
Lot's of capabilities without the headaches of multi-tier, but all the 
reliability
of the AS/400.

We wound up buying ASNA's AVR, developing our own.  so far we
have inventory from MAPICS on the web, we also have non-MAPICS
data published on the WEB that is on our AS/400 (and Browser).
We will soon be doing Mfg Order status over the web (in human readable
format).  At this time we haven't determined a real need to develop order
entry, although I'm sure that will come.

You should talk with the people at Custom Systems Corp. in NJ.  They have 
a
product call EAX that is fully interfaced with MAPICS, but also allows you
to design your own stuff.  Their website is www.cussys.com

I am not an employee of Custom Systems but have seen their product...
