An FYI to the list. Since I am on digest mode, David contacted me directly. After he reviewed one of our tutorials, he was able to determine that the EXPORT folder needed to be created in QDLS/INFOWP. David also mentioned (hope you don't mind) that his solution is typically customer specific and the subsets are unique to their business. I am pretty sure that if you contact David off-list he would be willing to discuss his methods and how he approaches the process of building a customized subset from files output by Jacana reports. The same user already downloads output from IWP to the QDLS/INFOWP folder. User also has all object authority and all special authority needed to write to all AS/400 folders. Any other ideas? The easiest way is to enroll the user as a PC user. From the AS/400 Main Menu, select option 11. Client Access/400 tasks, then options 21. Enroll Client Access/400 users. Note that you can also specify saving to previous release on the Options menu when prompted for method. When attempting to do so as you wrote, the following error message was received after PCDOWN was entered: 8 objects saved from library IWPEXPT. Member PCDISKETT2 not copied to PC document. Function check. IWS1612 unmonitored by O#XG8135 at statement *N, instruction Text not available for message ODX0838 file O#XM0001. As a result, there is nothing in the QDLS/INFOWP/EXPORT folder. In fact, the folder does not exist. QDLS/INFOWP does exist as this is where our Excel exports typically go. Do you know why the export did not complete? Would you be willing to share your work with him (and others in this forum)? The reports and subsets can easily be exported from IWP to a PC file and emailed to anyone that wants it. >From IWP "green screen", select Export from the Housekeep menu. After specifying the reports and subsets to export, use the method PCDOWN. It will create a file in /qdls/infowp/export that can be copied or emailed. We took the approach of creating some database files of our own and then building a customized subset. The database files can be built using Jacana and the subset can be created using IWP. The reason we built our own database files and subset was to make the linking in the subset much less complicated. We linked a CL to a task that runs all of the reports to build the database files and then runs the report to produce the printed output. This makes running the report very easy for the user. We also use Jacana to download this same information to Excel. The report gives all the items that are short with all manufacturing orders that require the item, all purchase orders for the item with appropriate due dates, and all inventory currently on hand. This is all pulled live from the MAPICS files so the report is literally up to the minute. David Kemp -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Kearney [mailto:ckearney@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, November 17, 2003 7:57 AM To: mapics-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Shortage / Due Reporting To all, I'm looking to create a single report that will combine manufacturing order shortage information with purchasing information. We currently accomplish this manually using Microsoft Word. It's a good report but with many issues such as time, accuracy, and timeliness. All information used to create this report comes from Mapics. So why not let the system do all of the work, right? The "Manufacture Order Shortage Report --- Follow-Up Analysis ---" is used to show what each manufacturing order is short. We use the purchase orders to know when items are due. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? We use Jacana/Valet for report writing.
