Bonnie

When we speak about media, we are talking about the labels and ribbons that
you would use thru your printer. It is very important to match the right
labels with the right ribbon. Some applications require a different ribbon
that would contain a resign mixture for applications to poly or plastic
labels.

Sometimes you can use labels that do not require a ribbon. These labels are
called direct thermal and use the heat from the print head to create the
image on the label. But this type of label can be very abrasive to the print
head and can cause excessive ware.

If you are using thermal transfer labels and the ribbon does not cover the
all of the label and its carrier, this will rub on the print head and cause
the print head failure too.

A lot of printer vendors offer media that you can purchase thru them and
they will give you free print head replacements. The problem is that their
media prices are double the cost because you are paying for the replacement
print head. You would be better off finding a vendor who can assist you
with these needs and can get you the replacement print heads if you need
them. They are easy to replace and are the same print heads that the
manufactures use, but they are still 25% less.

Hope this gives you some further insight.

Sincerely

By media do you mean the ribbon or the label? Or both?

We noticed a great performance improvement when we added twin-ax
cards to our Intermecs - the folks at TL Ashford suggested that..

Bonnie
We have had great success selling Intermec equipment to customers. The
Intermec equipment we have installed holds up in all kinds of environments
and support options range from onsite to depot service.

As far as printers go, Zebra, Sato, Datamax, and Intermec are all good
printers to work with. Just watch what kind of media that you use in your
printers, this can cause you alot of problems.
