Mike, We have our backups scheduled between 3:00am and 3:30am - no conflict there. All that happens is that the orders that are entered don't post to the system until after backups complete - the unattached jobs go on hold. And that's not an issue - none of my customers are open then (we are a B2B business). My staff requirements to support COM_Net is zero. It just runs. I reboot the NT server running the web side of COM_Net every week when we IPL the iSeries weekly (after system backups). BTW, COM_Net is down during system backups (11:55pm Saturday night until Sunday morning when we IPL post backup) - that hasn't been an issue for us until this week. I now have a requirement to keep the system up during system backups - anyone else out there doing that? The catalog is maintained by our internal technical illustrator - the same guy that does our printed parts books and such now does them to the web. All I did was buy him Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver - he now does the catalogs and parts books on the web, then exports them to print files to be printed. All that we did was change how he does his job. No additional personnel were required. Incidentally, I also have him handling "Dealer support" - he takes calls from new setups for dealers (we don't allow customers to set themselves up - business rules as we are a strict B2B producer). He also handles what little user training that is required - mostly showing the dealers (customers) what they can do with COM_Net. It's so intuitive that very little training is required - just explain the shopping cart, and how to navigate. Dale Gindlesperger IT Manager/Special Projects Leader Fleetwood Folding Trailers, Inc. Our requirements include Order entry for items using features and options. How do any of you current users (assuming there are some) handle the availability problem during backups. I would appreciate all comments from any users of this package or alternatives. What were your times to implement and staff requirements. For those that went with alternative solutions, what are your plans to deal with Mapics updates that impact the functionality. Thanks in advance.
