We have several customers who have set up a transaction to close operations by scanning a turnaround number or choosing from a list of open operations. Under the covers a JON is sent followed immediately by a JOF with a timestamp of one second later. (This is necessary to prevent the JOF from processing first since it's alphabetically before the JON) The JOF is hard coded with the operation status as complete and the quantity is hard coded to zero. Some customers have also set up a transaction that resets the operation complete flag. The transaction is not processed through PM&C, but instead it updates the status code in OPNOPS via an ODBC connection. Database writes directly into MAPICS tables are something we don't generally recommend, but there doesn't appear to currently be any other alternative to MAPICS file maintenance, and we haven't seen any negative side effects to this approach. You probably want to check the order status before allowing reopening of the operation. Is it possible to reopen and / or close mfg operations by using transactions? I want to be able to do this instead of online file maintenance. Thanks in advance, Peter Vidal Pall Aeropower Corp.
