Ted, I'm curious about the "other corporate issues..." and how they are impacting your decisions. We use MDCC/PMC to get labor to the MO's. We don't have the MAPICS payroll package, so we print Time and Attendance reports from PMC records and manually enter them into ADP. (I have the code from our sister company to electronically transfer TA to ADP, but at the moment we are still having accuracy issues with the TA data - a lot of manual cleanup before time gets entered in ADP. I do "backup" the TRDATA file whenever a prepare is done - otherwise the TA transactions disappear because we don't have the Payroll module.) This gets the labor time to the MO's (and into the correct GL buckets); payroll GL transactions are entered manually by the payroll clerk. The nice thing about using PMC is that we don't have one procedure for temps and a separate procedure for permanent employees - everyone does the same thing and the payroll clerk separates the regular and the temps for their weekly processing. (Our temps are hired and paid through several temp agencies.) Yeah, it is more manual than we would like, but it is working for us and that's the most important consideration. (Besides, our payroll clerk likes the job security! ;-) ) -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Hendricks, Ted [mailto:Ted.Hendricks@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 7:21 PM To: 'MAPICS ERP System Discussion' Subject: Payroll Hello. We recently began using ADP for Payroll. We work like to do the minimul amount of work necessary to get costs to the MO's. We would also like to capture costs for temporary employees. We think that we can do this by just processing employees time related to MO's via payroll [to PCC]. Has anyone crossed this bridge before? A number of years ago, we used to export a file to ADP (we left ADP and returned because of a few different owners), but that will not work for us this time because there are other corporate issues we don't want to have to deal with with mapics. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
