Ted, This very debate has most likely occurred in each of our companies at one time or another. Here are excerpts from our last debate on this issue; The "easiest" way to get labor costs charged correctly to WIP (your MO's) is to just let the system do it normally through transaction reporting through PCC. If you are capturing the transactions in PCC and are posting times to MOs, running transactions through payroll in order to get payroll distribution in GL, then all you need to do differently for an ADP implementation is to not print the Mapics PR checks. Under this scenario, what is the ROI? We recently began using ADP for Payroll. We work like to do the minimul amount of work necessary to get costs to the MO's. We would also like to capture costs for temporary employees. We think that we can do this by just processing employees time related to MO's via payroll [to PCC]. Has anyone crossed this bridge before? A number of years ago, we used to export a file to ADP (we left ADP and returned because of a few different owners), but that will not work for us this time because there are other corporate issues we don't want to have to deal with with mapics. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
