Bryan - Well, not directly. However, if you have Integrator and/or RPG programmers, you could create an Item master (revision) extension file that cross-ref's the MAPICS item number and the (longer) corporate item number. Then when Corporate wanted detailed reports on your items, you use their number instead of your own. Yes, changing the MAPICS item number would be ridiculously impossible to do if you ever wanted to upgrade your MAPICS release, or even add MAPICS-supported updates to your system.... -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Burns, Bryan [mailto:burnsbm@Echoincorporated.com] Sent: Thursday, January 23, 2003 10:04 AM To: 'MAPICS ERP System Discussion' Subject: RE: Expanding ITNBR Field length Great! Now we don't have to do it! The request came from our corporate parent. Needless to say, this is something that would be impossible for us to do ourselves correct? -----Original Message----- From: pgroeber@bellsouth.net [mailto:pgroeber@bellsouth.net] Sent: Thursday, January 23, 2003 10:00 AM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: Re: Expanding ITNBR Field length Bryan, As a former MAPICS employee, I can almost guarantee that there are NO plans to increase this field size. It would require a massive undertaking of not just IM, EPDM applications, but COM/CSM, MRP, MPSP, PUR, etc. applications. Customers would have to reorder forms or change programs, history files would be affected - it would be huge. On top of that, if there were any requests from customers for this change, there were only a few. This change would be a huge impact for minimual gain for both the customer and MAPICS. In other words, don't look for it to change in MAPICS software. Hope this helps.
