I agree with Steve, the message should go to the system operator. Then it would not be so much of a interruption. 1) Many of the users all call for support. It's not their job to worry about licensing. The System Operator should escalate as needed. 2) It disrupts the Robot Replay, since it expects a sequence of screens and hangs up when a new one is introduced. 3) It's a huge inconvenience --- we usually find out when our nightly process "bomb's" out due to robot not handling the extra screens. 4) We all should back-charge MAPICS for our costs, then they might be sympathetic. 5) All of these above problems and the license is NOT expired! Bonnie, I would contact MAPICS and explain your costs and also indicate others have had similar bad experience. (Time is cost) They should consider changing the way this works and they should give you a temporary license as a temporary work around. Good luck!, Ed Kandel -----Original Message----- From: sjones@hpproducts.net [mailto:sjones@hpproducts.net] Sent: Tuesday, January 14, 2003 8:11 AM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: Re: License Key Expiration Message & ROBOT replay What we do is have two different Replay jobs. One has that crazy screen on it, the other does not. Once we notice that the screen is back, we go & change everything to use the Replay job with the screen it. Is a big pain in the ***, but that is the only thing we have found that works. The other thing we have noticed is that it does not display that screen when everyone signs on, just certain situations. We think that it is the first person signing on or something. So being that it is not consistent may present a problem with using the above solution for you. We wish that MAPICS would just send a message to QSYSOPR notifying of the license keys!! Does anyone have a solution? We are trying to get the # of user licenses reduced since we have 2 fewer divisions so getting permanent keys at this time is not an option.
