Joan, Patrick's solution works fine for many of our customers. A trigger program over the MTHACT(S) to a corresponding set of YTDACT(S) can be performed very easily and give you the flexibility to generate endless queries which should satisfy any executive. It won't help your past history, but is it a good "data-warehouse" for your sales history. If you archive the file at each month end you can build some very easy and cheap Excel Queries and PivotTables across them to get hundreds of reports. My management team uses them exclusively. A lot cheaper than Analytics (though not as powerful), and you can link to your sales history and item balance information as needed. YABPREP wouldn't work - the sales VP needs YTD by customer so he can do analysis by industry, by sales reps, etc. etc. As for FRx or Crystal Reports - no $$, besides I already have IWP. -- Joan -----Original Message----- From: Bob Tenney [mailto:bobtenney@earthlink.net] Sent: Thursday, December 05, 2002 11:11 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: Customer shipments YTD Joan, You might consider an inquiry against the sales accounts in IFM's ledger summary ( YABPREP) file or an FRx report. IFM balances are updated automatically when you create an invoice. As long as you keep your invoicing current with your shipments this will give you the info that you need. If you are looking for COM-based report you might consider Crystal Reports. I have been experimenting with this product and have found that it can produce attractive reports without impacting AS/400 performance Bob Tenney Bob Tenney Solutions, LLC MAPICS - FRx - Crystal Reports 828-526-8976 Visit www.tenneypubs.com for books about IFM, FRx, COM, Cost Accounting, General Ledger Interfaces, and Info WorkPlace ----- Original Message ----- From: "McCready, Joan" <Joan.McCready@metaltekint.com> To: <mapics-l@midrange.com> Sent: Thursday, December 05, 2002 12:06 PM Subject: RE: Customer shipments YTD > Michael - > > Yes, they must be SA files - I have them, but both are blank... > > Thanks - Joan > > -----Original Message----- > From: Michael.Huber@plymouthwater.com > [mailto:Michael.Huber@plymouthwater.com] > Sent: Thursday, December 05, 2002 10:48 AM > To: mapics-l@midrange.com > Subject: RE: Customer shipments YTD > > > This is a multipart message in MIME format. > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > Two files I use are: CUSTSA (Customer) and ITEMSA (Item), we have SA > installed so they may be SA files. > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > ---- -- > ----------- > Michael K.
