This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Tom, As others have suggested, it can be difficult to justify buying another application when you have a single need. The questions to ask yourself (company) are (a) what is the cost of doing yourself vs the application; (b) what new hardware do I need - ie do you have an IPDS printer available? (c) what can a new application do beyond the immediate need; and (d) whether the additional functionality is something you are interested in. The Mapics application module JacanaForms includes the Packing List and all other standard business forms and allows you to easily customize to samples to add the necessary bar codes. The printing can be conditionally controlled so that customers who do not "request" barcoding will not get the barcodes. The additional advantages of electronic forms are the improved look of the form, getting away from impact printing with misaligned forms, special forms paper, printing your own logo and graphics on plain laser paper. The forms can be print on any HP (PCL) or PostScript compatible printer, eliminating the need for special IPDS capabilities. You can very easily convert all of your pre-printed forms and be up and running with a whole new look within days. This is a perfect opportunity to take a look at your overall printing strategies. Plus you can plan for the future with fax and email interfaces. Momentum Utilities is the developer of the JacanaForms application. For the immediate fix, I agree. Not interested in a lot more cost & overhead to address this particular need. Thanks for the quick responses everyone. -----Original Message----- From: Walker, Dale [mailto:DWalker@automaticproducts.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2002 10:34 AM To: 'mapics-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Barcodes on Packing Slips This message is in MIME format. If this is the only barcode requirement that you need to meet right now I certainly wouldn't recommend purchasing ANY package at ANY price. Dale Walker Gross-Given Mfg. They require barcodes on item number, po, supplier no. and quantity. Any ideas on the quickest and most economical way to do this within MAPICS? Thanks. --
