Joan,

People actually use that? ;) Sorry, long day getting longer.

As you can probably tell, I've never used that myself - I'm an old S/38
programmer, I've always rolled my own one way or another. What you could
try is a CHGCMDDFT for those parameters on the SAVLIB command - I imagine
that's what they're running underneath those menus. If that doesn't work,
maybe the source for the programs they're running can be retrieved and
modified - they're probably simple CL programs.

Joan,

Look at the help for parameters SAVACT, SAVACTWAIT, and SAVACTMSGQ on one of
the SAV commands.

I've seen reference to a "Save While Active" on the list in the past. Can
anyone point me to how to do this? I'd like to try it to solve my skipped
files problem - don't know if it would help Tom or not.

Thanks - Joan

All,

I apologize if this is an old topic, but what are those of you doing for
reliable nightly MAPICS or other data backups for 3-shift operations, with
no offshift systems support? Currently, I only do a MAPICS backup weekly
and a library backup nightly ... however during my nightly backups some
files are skipped because they are in use. This is an area I have been
somewhat lax in and need to get better before I get stung.

Any suggestions/hints are appreciated.

Tom
