The message 4004 refers to the sales analysis file ITEMSM, the message
4508 refers to item balance file. In each case, the value in the
specified file does not agree with what is in the item master.

You can get this detail by looking in the message file MESSGE in AMALIB.

Subject: Mapcis error messages: Item Class codes not same in ITEMAS
&ITEMBL files

Environment: Mapics DB/Y2K (Mod 4)
IM, PDM, PCC

Hi Mapics ML:

Sometimes when I am in File Maintenance updating records,
I see two Mapics error messages:

W AM-4508 ITEMASA & ITEMBL CLASS CODES NOT EQUAL

W AM-4004 ITEM CLASS CODE DIFFERENT FROM MASTER

Sometimes AM-4508 appears by itself and other times the
two messages appear together.

These messages appear to be redundant and I'm wondering
why there are two of them in the system. Is there some
hidden meaning here that differentiates each message?

I look forward to your comments.
