Tom, Returning from the Mapics Conference and catching up on messages. I might suggest that you take a look at the JacanaForms component of Info WorkPlace from Mapics. JacanaForms is an overall electronic forms tool that is designed to replace all pre-printed forms and utilize standard laser printers. While I understand it may be overkill for just replacing (presumably) a bar code printer, it may be worth looking at your overall printing/forms needs to eliminate all specialized printers and pre-printed forms, and reducing your total costs. Note: Momentum Utilities is the developer of the Mapics Info/WP suite of products. Regarding the Mapics conference (my viewpoint may be biased since I am a solution partner, and spent most of my time in the expo center), I felt that overall even though attendance appeared to be light, the activity in the expo hall was good. It is always great to meet old friends and new, and put faces to names (including a few from this list). Til next year, in Chicago.
