I wrote what I call Extended Item Master which is keyed by Item number,
vendor number. This holds the MFG#, Desc, contract price, primary (y/n)...
etc. Our purchasing department calls it thier AVL. We have since purchased
Procurement management to replace this function because it has a vendor/
item file, but we have not implemented this part of it yet.

Subject: AVL in MAPICS?

Has anyone out there come across a solution that would allow the maintenance
of
an Approved Vendor List (AVL) by Item Number?

Again, in High Tech industry, it is VERY common (99.999% of the time) to
have
several approved Manufacturers of raw components (Capacitors, Resistors,
IC's,
etc.)

As far as I know, "out of the box" MAPICS allows for only one approved
vendor
per item revision.

In house Mods, 3rd party solutions, ???

Thanks for your responses.
