I have a client who wants to bill the freight charges at the same time they
bill the material. Sounds easy, but the problem occurs with freight
companies.

The current method is to bill the customer for the freight amount after the
client recieves the bill from the freight company. This usually is a few
weeks after the material was shipped.

When shipping UPS this is not a problem thanks to the UPS software calculating
the freight amount and the Shipping Department can just add the freight charge
then. Having the Shipping Department figure out the freight amount for truck
orders is not an option, unless it is as easy as the UPS method.

The client has looked at a package from AR Traffic Consultants that is
supposed to integrate into MAPICS with a little programing. Cost of that
package is holding up the approval for that solution.

How do other people handle this and what are the pros/cons of doing it that
way?

Thanks for any input.
Jimmy
