Bonnie, I have done some work that used a trigger over the file INTRAN. The INTRAN file is the transaction file that is used in MAPICS IM entry. With a trigger, you can get hold of the record prior to it being updated in the file and make changes to it. This would be true of an add or update of a transaction. In that trigger program, you would just look for RP transactions only and put the date you want onto the record. This eliminates the need to make any modifications to those lovely IM entry programs. But to reduce the number of 'locations' they want to use a single date through out the month. Rather than rely on the persons keying the transactions, IT has been requested to drop in the first day of the month on the receiving programs. We are at XAR6 and have already experienced some pain with the base Mapics receiving programs - I'd hate to modify too many. Has anyone done this? I have identified at least 8 programs to change. All comments welcome!
