Thanks, currently we don't use the KBC ... but that is similar to what we're
looking for ... just not as complex. We're looking for a way to do a cost
rollup on quoted items, using PDM data outside of MAPICS so we can tweak rates,
costs, etc.

I'm not sure what drives the differential in your quotes/orders, but for us
it is the bill of material configuration - ie the customer can order their
unit configured in different ways. So they can order with a regular
enclosure, a sound attenuated enclosure, etc. To handle this we use MAPICs
Knowledge Based Configurator (KBC). It works with other MAPICS modules, and
pulls ion the cost from PDM unit cost default based on each customer's
configured order.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for; hope it helps.

Subject: Product Cost - Quoting & Estimating

We use most of the MAPICS manufacturing modules (PCC PMC PDM IM, etc.) and
are wondering what you are using for quoting and estimating potential items.
We've looked at MAPICS EQM and the price seemed a bit salty. Currently,
we're using a pc-based, offline system to do this. Is anyone aware of an
affordable and functional 3rd-party application that will use PDM's files
and generate proforma costs?

Thanks.
