Mapics Environment: Mapics DB/Y2K (Mod 4) Hi Mapics ML: When a Manufacturing Order (MO) closes and is purged to Inventory Management's (IM) history files, one of the Mapics screen reports is called "Order History: Accounting Summary" (AMIH14). This report, on the right columns, shows the various individual variances (Material, Setup, Run, Machine, Overhead and Misc; two variances for each) related to the MO. On the left part of the report, a summary of the MO close out in dollars is reported (Actual Costs less Receipts at Standard net to Total Variance). I have several questions relating to these variances: 1. Why isn't the right columns of indivudual variances summarized to tie into the Total Variance shown on the left side of the report? 2. I believe there's also a final "Closeout Variance" (a kind of catch all) that's also computed by Mapics but it's not shown separately on the above report with the other individual variances. Why is this? 3. I've tried to investige the material variances reported above on a particular MO (I leave the subject of Labor and other variances to another Mapics ML posting, if necessary) by printing out the two Mapics Reports: "Order History - Production Detail Report" (AMIH33), and "Order History - Accounting Detail Report" (AMIH34) but these two reports make no attempt to tie into any of the dollar variances. (To their partial credit, they do touch the subject of labor hour variances by routing steps, but they make no attempt to convent labor hour variances to labor hour dollar variances on these reports.) Why is this? 4. How do you handle the reconcilation of material MO variences at MO closeout at your shop? 5. Has Mapics updated its reports in the various versions of XA to provide some reconcilation of the individual various dollar variances shown on the Order history Accounting Summary (AMIH14) report? 6. I'm really at a loss in dealing with this when we have so many MOs closing daily and weekly. If the Mapics Reports are dificient in this area, are there other approaches (3rd party software, etc.) to deal with this matter? I'm sorry this posting is so long but in a way it represents some of my frustration in dealing with this aspect of Mapics. I look forward to reading your comments on this subject. :-) Regards...... -- Above message before copy enclosure (if any) was sent by: Al Gershen Grants Pass, OR 97526 aldg@mail.rvi.net & aldg@webtv.net; and thru ICQ # 12342782 -- +--- | This is the MAPICS Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MAPICS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MAPICS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAPICS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: dshaw@spartan.com +---
