This was in Midrange Computing's Monday Morning Update newsletter this week, and has also been published elsewhere. <QUOTE> Geac Computer Corporation (the Markham, Ontario, application software vendor that, last August, acquired JBA Holdings PLC, the UK-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) vendor that happens to be one of the biggest AS/400 software companies in the world) may have inadvertently set off a powder keg of controversy with a new policy that will severely restrict access to the source code for its System 21 ERP suite. </QUOTE> To the best of my knowledge, this new source policy is the most restrictive of any ERP vendor for the AS/400. I can't imagine MAPICS withdrawing currently available source like this, but they are effectively doing this on a lot of new code - for example, all the client code for the client/server apps. Granted I can't see a lot of us doing anything with Smalltalk or C++ source, but I was curious if there are any cases where folks here feel they have been hampered by any MAPICS source code policies.
