Suspended batches, or even batches that are closed but not finished, will cause the back-up to fail if you are tailored for immediate update of inventory. I make it a point to check for any unfinished batches before I leave for the day and run a transaction register to close them if necessary. The following is a MAPICS response to your question that can be found in the MAPICS web site FAQ's: "When tailored for immediate update of inventory management transactions (I002 Transactions in batch mode = N) all batches must be in a finished status before you will be allowed to run a MAPICS backup. If tailored for batch update (I002 = Y) you can backup your files with non-finished batches. See CAS User's Guide chapter referring to Back Up/Recover/Reorg for more information".
