  • Subject: Serial number woes...

We are in the process of implementing Mapics Here, and have run into HUGE
roadblock.
We use contract manufacturers to build all of our products. They are built to
our specs, right down to the Bar Code label that contains our unique serial
number. Due to the nature of our product, we are required to track our serial
numbers, upon receipt to dock, then to QA, then to inventory. Upon shipment, we
then track serial number out the door. From what I can see, Mapics XA has no
way, other than batch/lot control to do this. When we take receipt of several
thousand boards at a time, and have to enter and receive only two items per
transaction, at each location, we ultimately shut ourselves down! There must be
a solution out there somewhere! Someone has to have come up against the same
shortcomings of this software and marketed a solution!

Any replies appreciated,
