Carey Evans did the Debian packaging for tn5250 -
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=tn5250 - I'm not sure if
he's still subbed to this list. Ubuntu have it in universe, which is
generally packages pulled straight in from Debian, but I don't know
how soon a new version would take to make the transition.

I realised I wasn't subscribed when Sourceforge emailed me about the new
release. The version in Ubuntu 8.10 looks the same as my latest Debian
version, which actually includes many of the changes that went into 0.17.4.

If I have some spare time over Christmas I'll see if I can update my package
to 0.17.4, but I don't know how long it will take to get out of Debian
unstable to Ubuntu. It won't get into the next Debian release (Lenny), which
was frozen some time ago.

According to
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/tn5250/tn5250_0.17.3-2.dsc, as well
as build-essential you will need libncurses5-dev, ncurses-base, ncurses-bin
and libssl-dev to build tn5250 yourself on Debian or Ubuntu.
