I'm curious what everyone knows about doing scripting with 5250. Currently on the windows platform we use a program called netmanage 5250 that gives us a VBA scripting interface. We need this scripting interface because a large portion of the scripts that are used cannot be converted to remote exec or similar environments. We just support the AS400s and fix problems and perform procedures and typically script them and then have it executed multiple times as needed. My question is: Is there a good scripting option such as this for Linux? Will linux5250 be able to handle something like this? For instance I currently have a TCL script that does a analyzing a large number of stores and prepares results and passes information to TN5250 using a VBA script and then executes commands and interactive programs as was instructed by the TCL program. I want to eventually port this all into a linux environment and get it off the windows/desktop environment. I'm wondering if anyone has any sugggestions?
